Moving and Shaking

Why is it important to learn how moving images are created?
It's important because we see them all the time, on TV, playing games on the computer, and yet we don't really know how they are made. It's something that we don't really think about because it's normal, every day life. Learning about it will make us think about it, make it seem more significant.

Definitions
Here are some new words that I learnt in this unit and what they mean.

Key Frame: A unique frame that defines where a new scene starts, making a smooth transitions between frames.

Timeline: A board running across the top of the screen that has frames. You can choose which frame you want a scene to start and end. This shows in the timeline.

Tween: A tween is something you can use to add effects. Such as using motion tweens, you have a car going from one side of the screen to another. Instead of moving the car little by little you put where it starts in the first key frame and where it stops in the last key frame. Add a motion tween and it will move across the screen.

Symbols: A symbol can be reused throughout a movie. In the symbol you can add effects, such as making a person's legs move.

Onion Skin: Onion Skins are an editing option that lets you view many frames at once. They enable you to see the progression of an animation:

Practise Animations

I learnt how to use motion tween to move the alien up and down.

I learnt how to make a mouth move to show a talking person.

Learnt how to make the background move.

Final Project Group: Heidi.

Brief: In our final project we had to make an animation to advertise our business. It had to have sound and a moving image.

Problems we had to overcome
Sometimes the frames just wouldn't co-opperate when I wanted to delete them. The image kept flickering or the image just didn't look right after I reseized it.

Evaluation of Unit
I really enjoyed the Moving and Shaking unit. It challenged me, testing the new skills I'd learnt. Previously I'd had little knowledge of making animations, now I have more and there is still more to learn.

What I learnt, what I would like to learn now, how could I use this skills, what I liked best. How could the unit be improved?

I learnt how to make an animation using Flash. I leart how to move the image and make it talk, where to add motion tweens and when they just weren't need it.

2 Minute Teaching Video
I made a two minute teaching video on the chemical reaction between sodium and H2O. I learnt a lot during it, although I didn't quite finish the video. I filmed videos and added pictures with captions for explanation. I learnt how to use Movie Maker Live and I have previous experience in movie making as I do it every now and then in my free time. I learnt more about making videos and gained skills. I enjoyed making the video. It was fun.
